Thankful Thursday

I am in the most happy of moods today because I have 12 whole sweet days of leave from work ahead of me. Tomorrow morning I'll be boarding the train to that beaut of a place called Aberystwyth to see the boyfriend in a play (where his character rapes people - cheery!), then we'll be off to spend the first part of next week in Liverpool celebrating his belated 21st birthday, then its back to Aber to enjoy relaxing seaside times. May even squeeze a quick trip to Alton Towers in too early the following week before I head back with a bump to Lancaster and the real world. With all this to look forward to naturally this week has draaaaaaaaaaagged oooooooooon and oooooooooon and oooooooooon and...you get the picture. Though I have been oot and aboot on fieldwork in the glorious sunshine and rocking the ol' freckle mustache (oh the woe's of a ginger!) so I guess I'm pretty lucky. This week I'm also thankful for:

My awesome new Five Year Memory Book
Being paid just in time for my little holiday
Owl patterned wrapping paper
Boots points = free Barry M nail polish. Winning!
Rediscovering old clothes you forgot you had
The most amazing weather this last week
The smell of sun cream
Making too much vanilla buttercream icing and being forced to eat the leftovers
A giant pile of library books
The prospect of imminent boy hugs
Bluebell fields

So I'm probably likely to go AWOL for the next week or so as I'll be off skipping along the beach singing "I'm free! I'm free!" or something to that effect. No doubt I'll be stalking you all on Bloglovin though in the meantime; it has literally become ingrained into my morning routine.

One of our fieldwork sites this week. Love my job!

I hate wearing flip flops but it's just been that hot.

Excited to lounge around in the sun (hopefully) and made my way through this pile

Thankful Thursday

Woweeee, it's been such a hectic week that I literally haven't had a spare moment to jabber away here as usual. So picture this: Friday night and I'm demonstrating how to fail at making pancakes in my pyjamas. There's a knock at the door....and it's the boyfriend!! I was so surprised that my first reaction was to swear at him, but then there was some serious huggage and squealing (the latter mostly on my behalf). Did I ever mention how super-awesome my boy is?! We had a gorgeously relaxed weekend; we watched Eurovision over a giant fatty feast at the girlies' house, and Sunday we walked to Morecombe in the sunshine then went to the Waterwitch pub on the canal for a steak dinner. He left Monday, and I was straight out on fieldwork for two days and I was feeling a bit under the weather so I literally just vegged out into front of a film in the evening. Yesterday we had friends over to scoff a feast that James cooked. A week to rival the busiest of bees! So I must have a whole host of things to be thankful for. Let me see...

Elliot
Surprises
Kind nurses
The Romanian Eurovision entry
Garlic bread (I think I've included this before..I'd just so darn-tooting good!)
My duvet
An ultra productive day at work
Fieldwork in the sun,for once
Having an excellent chef for a housemate
Finding the book you're thinking of spending £20 on in the library
Epic hog roast sandwiches
Boy sized t-shirts (so comfy)
My Sally Hansen jade nail polish
Sunday lie-ins until midday
Aberystwyth adventures in June to look forward to
Back massages

Looking thankful. Best surprise delivery ever!

Thankful Thursday

First things first, the BEDM challenge for today is a moment in your day. Today was a pretty dull day to be doing this; I went to work, did work, came home for work. A friend of my flatmate, who I also know from the office, came over and we all watched The Hunger Games. But honestly the highlight of the day was...this epic chili with garlic bread.

I must remember to post the recipe for this bad boy! It's is seriously delicious and even better served with garlicky bread goodness. I cobbled this recipe together myself when I was in my first year of university and was missing some of the usual chili ingredients. Its cheap to make, its fiery, it's....it's making me drool just writing this. So cooking and eating this is the moment I choose to share with you guys today.

Onwards with the thankfulness - it is Thursday after all. How quick do these posts come around by the way!? (Hint: the answer is super quick.) I think the awesomeness of the bank holiday weekend down in Aberystwyth, frolicking in the sun with Elliot and my other uni peeps, made this week disappear like a shot. Already can't wait to be back there in a month and for a whole week. Hellooooooo annual leave, you absolute beaut! Other things I'm thankful for this week:

Drunken reunions with old friends
Sambuca flavoured courage to dance like a crazy person
Pints in the sun
Early morning trains which can get me across the country before midday
My mothership who is willing to wander around moors in the rain on her weekend to help me with the ol' dissertation
Huggles with the boy (who just became an uncle - exciting times!!)
Cinnamon yogurt icing
BBC iplayer
Summer planning
The excitement of next summer's cruise (ahhhhh!)
Making new friends
Living next to the sea

Thankful Thursday

No dear readers, I am no idiot, I do know it is Friday. Buuuut I have no internet at home still and so am posting this on a day late now I am in Aberystwyth for the weekend and able to use the boyfriend's internet to my heart's content. Or when he's not looking and I can run away to a dark corner with his laptop anyway...

At the moment I’m sitting in glorious sunshine with the promise of an epic bank holiday weekend just round the corner and feeling pretty content with life, so it shouldn’t be too hard to list the things that I’m feeling thankful for this week.

Crusty bread.
Sunshine.
Free wifi in pubs.
A giant bar of Aero after a hard day of fieldwork.
The huge number of flexi-time I’ve accumulated. Hello days off!
The delicious being that is gravy.
Boyfriends who carry all the heavy stuff when you move house.
No exams next summer. Hooray for coursework assessed modules!
M&S flatbread sandwiches.
Lazy Sundays on the sofa.
The attractiveness that is Robert Downey Jr.
Orange Wednesday deals at the cinema.
The look of joy on people's faces when you surprise them.
The beauty of the Welsh coast.
Morgan's sandwiches.

Quick update of what I’ve been up to since my last Thursday post. I’ve moved house but just to another further down the same street. I had a cute little Lancaster weekend with the boy. We had a small house warming party. I’ve seen all three of the Iron Man films and developed a love for Robert Downey Jr’s face. I’ve hiked up Great Dun Fell to take photographs of grass for my dissertation (I wish the dissertation was marked on effort, that walk knackered my legs!). I saw a snake close-up in the wild for the first time. I made a name for myself in Wetherspoons as the person who buys a pint of coke and makes it last three hours while I steal their internet because ours isn’t connected yet. I chose my modules for next year at university. I booked my holiday for next summer I finish uni, helloooooooo Mediterranean cruise!! I travelled to Aberystwyth for the bank holiday weekend as a surprise for the boy.

Pretty awesome fortnight. What have you guys all been up to? I miss unlimited access to Bloglovin so I can stalk you read what you are all doing.

Looking into growing a mustache. What do you guys reckon?

Why yes, I am slightly crazy...

Thankful Thursday

This has been a bit of an up and down and round-about week. But there's always something to be thankful for, so here's my list of thankfulness for this week:

The Boy is arriving in Lancaster in fifteen minutes!!
Bank holiday weekend round the corner
People who come through for you when you need them to
Keeping my cool in a sticky situation, whereas I would usually just freak out
My giant wall calendar, how can anyone ever organise their life without one?
Super generous parents
The snow is finally melting from Moor House
Theo is back home after his doggie holiday in the kennels
Significant dissertation wordage
Ben and Jerry's for only £2

Though it's not really something I would normally immediately think of, after watching the news this week I am incredibly thankful for my health and the health of all the people I love. Thoughts and prayers go to those in any way affected by the tragedy of the Boston marathon.

End on a more happy note though.

Excited to go and pick up the boy!!
/
Awkwardly ate some garlic bread for tea though. I'm sure he'll enjoy a bit of second hand garliciness...right...?
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll be back to posting next week when the Boy treks back to Wales again. Toodle-pip!

Thankful Thursday

So I was quite looking forward to this post this week because I've just been totally uninspired with what to post. I think it was down to how utterly boooooring the last few days have been. Literally cannot wait until the good ol' flatmate James gets back from his jollies on Sunday. And then we can go and get the dog from the kennels and our happy little household will be back together again, ready to move house next weekend (our landlords are being uber annoying and are selling the house so we have to leave, but we've found an almost identical house just down the street, so yey!). Guess I should be grateful this week has been a bit slow going bearing in mind how chaotic the move might be but really I'm just excited for it, especially as my main man Elliot is coming up to help.

Other things I'm thankful for this week:

I'm going home tomorrow for the weekend.
The sun shined for our tough snowy walk on the moor yesterday
The parents are getting a puppy in August!! Excitment doesn't even cover it!
Finding a frozen home cooked meal in the freezing when you can't be arsed to cook
Finding a Wispa in my desk drawer
Seeing definite progression with the dissertation writing. Now just need this snow to bugger off so I can get sampling my streams again!
The attractiveness of Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing.
I'm finally going horse riding this weekend after over 6 months out of the saddle. This might hurt...

Noticed how quite a few people are doing this sort of post, my bloglovin feed was full of thankful-ness today. Keep up those happy thoughts!

The fish are my buddies. You can see how bored I've been...

Packed ready to head back to the bosom of the parental home tomorrow. Amazing home cooking, come at me!

Thankful 'Thursday

I know, I know! "It's Friday" I hear you cry. Well, I was busy yesterday evening and by the time I got home I was shattered and went straight to bed so this week I'm being thankful on Friday instead. And yes, I did also neglect to do a Thankful Thursday last week, But I have a good excuse for that too; I was in Liverpool, without the best internet connection and, to be honest, too busy enjoying Easter with the boy and his family to worry the lack of blog posts too much. I'll try and make up for it with a fortnight's worth appreciation of the beautiful things in life this week. So I'm thanking the world for:

Bank holiday weekends
Walking hand in hand on the beach at dusk
Springer spaniel puppies
Putting aside technology and enjoying a good old game of Scrabble
The prospect of a wedding next year, and the accompanying excuse to buy a dress
Planning for the future
M&S food
The appearance of the sun, finally!
Long text conversations with friends
The amazing strength of community spirit
A good book that you cannot put down
Cheese and onion crisps

I'm feeling pretty grotty this evening and my flatmate is away sunning himself in Saudi Arabia (lucky devil!) so am curled up in the corner of the L-shaped sofa (the best place in the world) with a duvet, chocolate digestive biscuits and season 4 of The Tudors. My friend from university was supposed to be coming to visit this weekend but is unable to make it now so instead tomorrow I'm going to make like a housewife with the spring cleaning and baking of delicious goodies. Sunday will be spent watching a bucket full of films. Ahhh, these are the lazy days!

Stay thankful guys!

Thankful Thursday #1

So today I've been busy finding a few new people to stalk in the blogosphere, and I came across a great idea for a new feature I thought I'd try out; Thankful Thursdays. Thanks a bunch to both Lisette and Paige for this, they both have lovely blogs so be sure to click your way over to them.

Thankful Thursdays are going to be about sticking a middle finger up to all the mad and bad happenings each week and remembering that life is actually pretty good. Here goes.

In less than a week I will be reunited with the boy
I got a free mug at work today
My flatmate's dog is THE cutest EVER
The Tudors is on Netflix
Tomorrow is take-out and film night with my Lancaster girls
The dissertation research is going full steam ahead
The existence of pyjamas
Also, I suppose its not something to really be thankful for but I scored a goal in hockey today (I play with the guys from work in our lunch break). It was my first ever goal in the 6 months I've been playing...and then I scored a second time! Just shows that persistence pays off as I'm not exactly what anyone could ever call gifted at sport, and that its good to get out there a try new things. I've met some brilliant(ly crazy) people through hockey - something else to be thankful for!

Stay thankful guys!
